Born With a Heart Defect, Now 16-Year-Old Soham Needs Urgent Open Heart Surgery

A 16-Year-Old’s Fight Against a Congenital Heart Defect — Help Soham Get a New Chance at Life

For most teenagers, life is about studies, dreams, friendships, and planning for the future. But for 16-year-old Soham Sachin Kulkarni from a small village in Maharashtra, every day has been a struggle against a serious heart condition he was born with.

Soham has been living with Congenital Heart Disease (2.5 mm Ventricular Septal Defect – a hole in the heart) since birth. Over the years, his parents have done everything they could to get him treated. They visited different hospitals, followed medical advice, and hoped that their son’s condition would improve. However, despite years of treatment and monitoring, the defect in his heart has not healed.

Recently, doctors at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre, Pune carefully evaluated his condition and advised an urgent Open Heart Surgery. According to the medical team, this surgery is now essential to prevent further complications and give Soham a healthier future.

Soham's father, Mr. Sachin Madhukar Kulkarni, is a small farmer from Nilwande village, Sangamner Taluka, Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The family's livelihood depends entirely on agriculture, making it extremely difficult for them to arrange such a huge amount for treatment.

The estimated treatment cost is approximately ₹8,50,000, which includes: MVR + TV Repair Surgery (General Ward): ₹6,20,000 Medicines & Consumables: ₹50,000 Two Metal Valves: ₹1,80,000 For a farming family already struggling with limited income, arranging this amount is nearly impossible.

After exhausting their resources and searching for help from every possible source, the family came across Jan Sanjeevni Trust with hope in their hearts. Today, they are requesting support from compassionate donors who can help save their son’s life.
A father should never have to choose between his child's treatment and his family's survival. Yet that is the painful reality this family is facing.
